Once your Healthy Louisiana (Medicaid) application receives approval, you can choose us as your health plan. If you don’t choose a plan, the state will choose one for you. Already enrolled in a health plan? You can change plans during open enrollment.

Remember to choose Aetna Better Health of Louisiana when it’s time for enrollment. You have a few options: 
 

How to choose us
 

  • Online: Visit Healthy Louisiana enrollment.
  • By phone: Call Healthy Louisiana at 1-855-229-6848 (TTY: 1-855-526-3346). You can call Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM. Tell them you choose Aetna Better Health of Louisiana as your plan.
  • By mail: Complete the enrollment form you got in the mail. Send it to the address on the form. 

Switching to Aetna Better Health

Already enrolled in a health plan? You can switch to Aetna Better Health during open enrollment. This period is 60 days long and happens once a year. Before then, you’ll get a letter with all the info you need to change plans.

Haven’t applied for Medicaid yet?

The first step is applying for Healthy Louisiana (Medicaid) benefits. Once you enroll, you can choose Aetna Better Health of Louisiana as your plan.
