Your health is our top priority. We’ll give you tips on how to stay healthy. And go over some of the major health risks for men.
What can I do to stay healthy?
No matter how old you are, you should visit your primary care physician (PCP) for your annual checkup. They can help treat anything that is bothering you. They can also help lower your risk for a more serious illness, like diabetes, heart disease or cancer. Tell your PCP about a history of family illness, unhealthy habits or anything that you think they should know. Your PCP will also remind you when it’s time to get your shots. You’ll want to get:
- A tetanus-diphtheria (Td) or tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis (Tdap) shot every 10 years
- A flu shot every year
You should always contact your PCP if you have any questions or concerns about your health.
What health risks should I look out for?
Depending on your risk level, your PCP may want to test you for some issues more than others. Some of the most common health concerns for men are:
- Heart disease and high blood pressure
- Type 2 diabetes
- Colorectal cancer
- Prostate health
- Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs)/sexually transmitted infections (STIs)
